Discount Wrought Iron Patio Furniture
Wanting to see what kind of deals, discounts there are on wrought iron patio furniture, I took to the world’s largest database – the Internet. My initial gut feeling is that our search for some kind of real discount on iron furniture is a not much easier than finding Atlantis or the Holy Grail. My perspective on this comes mostly from the time spent researching this niche of patio furniture. It appears that it is a competitive market and as such most of the price points are as close as the manufacturers and definitely the retailers can afford to do and still turn some kind of profit. I’m not sure if this comes from the lack of commercial wrought iron production or if it is just an unspoken rule in the furniture industry that you only sell for a certain percentage point (this would be akin to price fixing, and I’m not suggesting that this is the case – only that the conspiracy theorist in my brain leads me to believe that this is a possibility) or if the prices are what they are due to supply and demand or even possibly priced out exactly where they should be priced. We’ll search around a bit an see what we come up with today.
A quick query to a search engine confirmed at least part of my initial gut feeling. There wasn’t much in the search engine results page to suggest we had found what we are looking to find. Having worked in the IT industry for many years now, I’m well aware that the average person browsing the web doesn’t look past the first 3 to 10 results and almost never will go any further than the top 30 results to find what they are looking for without trying a new search. Knowing this, I decided to dig a little deeper and see what gems might be hiding in the other 312,000 waiting results. Ugg.
After refining my search parameters and using quotation marks around the phrase discount wrought iron furniture we had some sort of success. Noe there were only 731 results, or 70 some pages to look through. Well, that is at least better. After perusing through roughly 30 of these pages (I guess even IT guys have their limit), I found that I had been involved in what I like to call a “massive waste of time” as there was not much more to be found online even 300 results in to get us a better deal on our discount wrought iron patio furniture.
We may have better luck trying to find a deal in the wholesale market, rather than just looking for discounted prices from retailers. One note here is that there are some buying clubs out there which may have some great deals using the power of buyers in large numbers, so that may be another possibility that we have to find our best price. However, for me, that will have to wait until another post on another day.
