If there’s one thing to say about wrought iron, it’s that it never goes out of style. And that is just what we want with our home furnishings. Whether indoor or outdoor, we want them to last and yet still be able to serve as conversation pieces. We want durability and at the same time décor. Wrought iron plant stands are just that!

Indoor and outdoor gardens are incomplete without wrought iron plant stands and wrought iron plant hangers. They are not only decorative in nature but also provide an easy way of organizing your plants. These plant stands come in many different shapes and sizes. And just like the icing on the cake, they provide the finishing touches to your home.

Ideal for outdoors, wrought iron is durable and decorative. It is valued because of its strength and malleability. Its characteristic of being low in carbon content allows it to be easily welded which results to flexibility in terms of design. This type of iron can be twisted, turned, and formed into even the most intricate design patterns. They can even be personalized to reflect your own style and personality. Wrought iron fixtures are made from high quality materials and withstand the test of time and the elements through weather-resistant finishes for added protection.

Wrought iron plant stands or plant holders are ideal for draping plants or hanging plants that you don’t want hanging from a wall or a ceiling. Can be used in your patio, garden or inside your house, these plant stands are powder coated to protect them from rusting. These pieces can take on many different shapes and sizes but they are consistent with one thing: easy organization. Most plant stands or plant holders are circular in shape and have a decorative base. Other shapes are also available with square or rectangles being part of the favorites. The base is also available in different diameters, lengths, and widths which provide you with more decorative options. Common designs for wrought iron plant stands and holders include tiers with many levels or four-legged with a lower shelf. The tiered type is typical of most small plant stands and holders and usually come in groups of three. The different levels add a certain height to small plants and can easily accent a small space. The four-legged type also comes as a single piece or in groups of three. Some already have a decorative pot and all you need to do is fill it up. There are also designs that have a lower shelf which provide you with more space for your plants. Other designs incorporate a small table or a magazine rack into the plant stand.

Wrought iron plant hangers are another type of decorative organization. They will blend in with any room and have beautiful detailed designs. Offering more space for your plants, most wrought iron plant hangers are finished with powder coating to protect it from rusting. These plant hangers come in different lengths to provide support for your plants, even the heavy ones. They are also removable from the wall. Some designs are swivel type which allows you to turn it into different angles. Other designs include plant hangers with more than one arm which creates a lantern effect on the plants. What’s really interesting is that wrought iron plant hangers are not only for plants but also serve as hangers for bird houses and bird feeders. They also go really well with a set of wrought iron patio furniture.

Whether indoor or outdoor, if you want an instant accent to your small space or an instant finishing touch to your home, go for wrought iron plant stands and wrought iron plant hangers. They offer decorative organization that’s stylish and at the same time durable.

Wrought Iron Furniture

What is wrought iron? A simple definition would be a commercially pure grade of iron. It was referred to simply as “iron” throughout history. Until more modern methods of steel making were discovered it was the main metal used in industrial applications. Once upon a time it was used to make a variety of products from rivets and pipes to railways and ironclad warships. Since the event of of these modern methods of steel making, wrought iron commercial production has declined steadily, and is rarely used if at all these days.

So why would someone want furniture made out of wrought iron, or better yet, why would anyone want wrought iron patio furniture? That’s a good question really, but there is also a good answer. You see, wrought iron is fairly strong and easily welded if there is a break. Because a small amount of raw iron is needed to produce wrought iron you can make more product with less core metal. This can lead to it being more cost effective on a large scale. Wrought iron also holds up well in the elements, so it makes for ideal patio furniture or really any outdoor furniture. You don’t even need to be concerned with patio heaters to keep your furniture protected from the cold.  Couple that with it being able to support a good amount of weight and the ease of repair (welding) if it does break and you have the makings of a durable, long lasting furniture set. Wrought iron is a throw back, an homage of sorts, to the 15 and 16 hundreds when it was used extensively. It is a way to reconnect, for some with a gone by period in history that many people romanticize – the Renaissance.

Because of its texture, it is rough, wrought iron can hold coatings very well, even better than steel. This makes protective coverings applied to it for protection from the elements all the more effective. It also makes for unique styling on ornamental works, such as furniture. So when people dare to be unique these days many times they will look back to history to gain inspiration for that uniqueness.

Because of the decline in commercial production it is not as inexpensive as steel or other choices in metal. This has to be balanced with the knowledge that what you are purchasing isn’t, like so many other products these days, disposable. It is a lasting choice in furniture.

In essence, not even taking its durability into account, wrought iron is a great choice for a special personalized touch (and for a personalized touch for your patio furniture you can always add wrought iron patio furniture cushions) to any home, garden, or patio because of its longevity and how different or unique it is in the modern day.
